UCT Libraries remains closed and continues as a comprehensive Virtual Library Service due to the continued lockdown status of UCT and completion of the 2020 academic year using remote teaching. With a few exceptions identified in support of the UCT Return to Research Plan, the physical reopening of UCT Libraries will now coincide on the academic calendar with the resumption of contact teaching and learning.
UCT Libraries contain world-class repositories of knowledge and up–to-date research. Here's how you can get the most out of this amazing resource.
1. Bring along your Student or Staff Card
Did you know your student or staff card is also your library card? Remember to carry it with you to gain access to the Libraries and to borrow items, and use it to make photocopies and print in all Libraries.
To borrow something, just take it to the loans desk together with your card and the loans desk staff will issue it to you - or use our self-checkout machine. Not at the Library? submit a Request Online.
How many items may I borrow?
Students can borrow up to 6 items at a time if you are an undergraduate or 12 if you are a postgraduate. Refer to our borrowing rules for more information.
