Welcome to UCT Managed Print Solutions

Dear UCT colleagues and students,

Bytes Document Solutions has officially taken over as UCT’s new printing vendor from 01 January 2019. New Xerox printers are currently being installed across campus in student computing labs, libraries, document centres and departments that will support the new printing solution, UCT Managed Print Services (MPS). A schedule of the rollout of printers across campus is available on the MPS website.

What’s new?

MPS offers a host of features and benefits to suit UCT staff and students’ needs, including extended helpdesk support hours and a centralised online printing portal where you can manage your account.

What do I need to do?

When the printers are successfully installed across campus, you will need to use the Papercut software to print. The software will automatically be installed on staff members’ Windows machines that have Zenworks installed. If you do not receive the software update via Zenworks, or if have a Mac, you will need to manually install the software.

The Papercut client is not yet available for Linux, but you can still  print using the web interface.

  • Onsite support: 8:00 a.m. – 4.30 p.m.
  • Telephonic support:
    • Weekdays: 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
    • Saturdays: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
