What is UCT Libraries?
UCT Libraries is a network of 7 libraries across all UCT campuses, which offers state-of-the-art technology, vast collections of reading and research material, and the specialised services of friendly, efficient and helpful staff.
Find library resources to complete your assignments within time and get the grade you want.
Get to know your subject librarian as soon as possible to make sure they assist you from the start.
Is it safe to use the physical libraries?
Yes, it is safe to use UCT Libraries as it is managed according to strict health and hygiene protocols. Presently under Lockdown Level 1, some of our libraries reopened as self-study spaces only for limited hours and with strict social distancing. Only patrons with a letter of authorisation are able to enter and study at the library.
How do I search for information on the Libraries website?
Simply sign in to Primo and request the book(s) that interest you. Wait for the email confirmation to collect. Patrons who cannot access campus may request and collect books at our offsite book collection point at CPS Burnage House. Return your library books at the book drop box outside CPS Burnage House, adjacent to Leo Marquard Hall. No books can be returned directly to the libraries at the moment.
Do you only have serious materials in the Library?
No, we also have fun materials including popular fiction in all genres, graphic novels, board-games such as chess, jigsaw puzzles, etc. Do let us know what you would like to read so that we may grow our collection.
Visit the Libraries website for essential information about library hours and services. Our Virtual Library Service operates from 08h30 - 17h00, Mondays to Fridays
