UCT Libraries remains closed and continues as a comprehensive Virtual Library Service due to the continued lockdown status of UCT and completion of the 2020 academic year using remote teaching. With a few exceptions identified in support of the UCT Return to Research Plan, the physical reopening of UCT Libraries will now coincide on the academic calendar with the resumption of contact teaching and learning.
Books may be requested by South African libraries who belong to the South African Interlending Scheme only. UCT does not lend books or theses to international requesters.
Books are loaned to other South African libraries for 3 to 8 weeks, depending on the section of the Libraries supplying the book.
No renewals are granted.
Local requests are charged according to the South African Interlending Scheme rates.
International requests are charged $20 via OCLC IFM (or minimum of 2 IFLA vouchers) for photocopies of journal articles or conference papers (less than 20 pages).
